Project Profile: Muskegon HVAC Renovation & Restoration
Pleune Service Company successfully delivered a full mechanical HVAC upgrade for a facility renovation in Muskegon, Michigan, overcoming severe project disruptions with resilience and innovation.
Our team began work in May 2022, focusing exclusively on the HVAC mechanical scope. The design started with a modern geothermal heat pump system featuring advanced heat pumps, and a Trane Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) units. During demolition, we uncovered significant ductwork corrosion that required immediate design adaptation. In response, we expanded the scope to include the Seresco Pool Dehumidifier, allowing us to address the building’s environmental control challenges more effectively and deliver a robust, high-performance system.
In August 2023, an arson incident caused smoke damage to recently installed HVAC equipment. This unexpected event forced the replacement of nearly all newly commissioned systems—including heat pumps, DOAS units, boilers, pumps, fans, and variable frequency drives—and required two full building duct cleanings. The incident presented one of the most formidable challenges of the project.
Pleune responded with immediate action. We deployed a temporary boiler system to maintain the heat pump loop, minimizing downtime and enabling the restoration to proceed without compromising occupant comfort or schedule continuity. Our team’s rapid mobilization and dedication ensured the project could resume quickly and remain on track.
Despite significant setbacks, we completed the project in March 2024, delivering a high-performance mechanical system tailored for long-term reliability and comfort.
This project stands as a testament to Pleune Service Company’s commitment to overcoming adversity, adapting under pressure, and delivering exceptional results for our clients—no matter the challenge.
