Pleune has added plumbing, piping, electrical and controls, as well as built a 10,000 sq ft fabrication center and an additional office in Lansing.
Today, Pleune Service Company is Grand Rapid’s and Lansing’s premier contractor of choice for mechanical services in Michigan. From new construction, renovation and expedited equipment replacement to ongoing maintenance and service.
1974
Starting With a Mission
In 1974, John Pleune started a company with a clear mission statement: to provide prompt, quality heating and cooling service to the commercial and industrial markets of West Michigan. He felt that dedication to that statement would, in and of itself, set his company apart from the competition. He was right.
1988
Evolution of a Service-Driven Company
In 1988, John Pleune decided to reward the dedication of his employees. He formed an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 30% of Pleune Company stock was sold to the ESOP. Employees embraced the opportunity from the very beginning. This new employee ownership program was an evolution of the culture that John installed at the company’s inception. Every owner believes that customers are the lifeblood of the company. They treat all customers with integrity and respect, and provide those customers with quality workmanship and outstanding customer service.
2002
Fruition of a Dream – 100% Employee Owned
In 2002, John Pleune sold his remaining shares in Pleune Service Company to the ESOP. The company was now 100% employee owned. With this 100% ownership structure everyone at Pleune Service Company is an owner and has a personal stake in your satisfaction. They all work together as a team, encouraging one another to succeed, to be committed to quality, workmanship, and the Pleune values.
2009
Expansion – Opening the Lansing Business Office
In 2009, Pleune Service Company expanded its offices to include the Lansing location. This established an office to better serve our customers across the state.
2015
Dedication to Excellence and Learning
In 2015, Pleune Service Company opened its technical training center at the Grand Rapids office. Pleune is dedicated to providing excellent customer service today and for generations to come. The training center is used to teach basic, intermediate, and advanced skills to ensure technicians continued growth throughout their careers.
2017
ESOP Company of the Year
In 2017, Pleune was named the ESOP Company of the Year for the ESOP Association Michigan Chapter.
